   the staff were friendly and the breakfast was good.

   I was very disapointed when I arrived as I had booked months in advance, requesting the room shown on the website with a four posterbed in a very pleasant setting. However on arrival the room was no where near the standard requested.
   The hotel acknowledged they had received my request but instead of informing me that the room was unavailable, and allowing me to book another hotel, they accepted my booking and automatically placed my wife and I in a standard room leaving me to think we had the room advertised on the website.
   The night we used this hotel was the last night of our holiday for our first wedding anniversary so had wanted somewhere special. To just book us in a standard room and not let me know the months before is unacceptable.
   The hotel did little to compensate by offering a 10 euro discount.

   The location and ambiance of this hotel is perfect , particularly if you wish to be near the ferry terminal for a trip to Amalfi coast. The staff were the most helpful and friendly we encountered on this vist to Italy.

   Unfortunately, the Galeria Umberto is being refurnished and there is much scaffolding around the building and it made our entry somewhat daunting. Also the floors below the hotel are in state of complete renovation.
