Colle Mezzo was a wonderful place to stay. Our family (2 adults, 2 kids 13 and 16 years old) enjoyed lazing by the pool with the wonderful view of Montepulciano in the background. The flat was quite spacious with a modern kitchen (could have used a few more kitchen knives) and comfortable dining/living area with cable TV. The two bedrooms were very comfortable. The temperature during our July stay was very warm during the day but with very comfortable nights - we never wished for air conditioning or a fan - and quite happily left doors and windows open (no insect problems for us).The location is very quiet. It is possible to walk to Montefolonico in less than 30 minutes up a reasonably steep hill. The views are excellent and there are shops in case you need supplies for a meal. This was our first visit to Tuscany and we would gladly return for a longer stay next time and use Colle Mezzo as a convenient base to explore the local area.Salvatore speaks as much English as I speak Italian (not much) but communication was never a problem. He makes a very nice Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, too!It was a bit tricky for us to find the first time and a better road map of Montefolonico showing the location of Colle Mezzo would have been helpful.Brad, Bjorg, Jess and Erik Sherman (Canberra, Australia)
